Our Leading Edge Language Network offers a different approach to acquiring language skills needed in today’s workplace.
In our online courses, you will learn to communicate with your co-workers, the public or your employees in the most effective and efficient ways. Beginning in Fall 2010, Spanish and other languages will be offered in a variety of industry-specific contexts from building and construction to hospitality and food service. You will become conversant in 600 words and phrases that are most relevant to you and your business.
American Sign Language is currently being offered through the Leading-Edge Languages Network. In this on-campus program, you will become immersed in basic communication through ASL and learn about deaf culture.

American Sign Language I (LACE 5090)
In ASL 1, students interact with their teacher and gain information on language, grammar, comprehension and Deaf Culture. Units cover material including numbers, finger spelling names, questions, beginning and ending conversations, and identifying a person.
Spanish for Health Care (LACE 5060)
This self paced online occupational Spanish course is designed to bridge the communication gap between English speaking health care professionals and Spanish speaking patients. in addition to basic greetings and general Spanish vocabulary, the course also covers admission and registration, body parts, emergencies and common injuries, patient examination, prescriptions and insurance vocabulary.
