Goodwin College’s Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course is an advanced Six Sigma program developed for professionals and Certified Green Belt Practitioners. Each applicant will need to submit a minimum of two completed Green Belt - projects for review, to include documentation detailing results achieved and the impact each project sustained on the organization or process affected.
The Black Belt course is 17 weeks long, and combines online work and in-class sessions. This innovative and comprehensive course is equivalent to 160 hours of classroom training. The course is facilitated by highly experienced Master Black Belt Practitioners, which includes instruction, custom-designed class activities and assignments, highly effective proven business simulations, and hands-on practice with numerous tools and techniques. The projects Black Belt candidates undertake during their 17 weeks of training should be high-level Value Stream Analysis Events that will provide a prioritized list of the project and events which will maximize the potential to meet their organization’s goals and objectives or the more complex Rapid Improvement Events that drive significant value in your organization or process.
Our project completion approach involves a Master Black Belt working with each candidate/applicant: prior to class to assist them in defining a project; during the training to complete and sustain the project; and, after the class to close out the project and brief the results to our certifying body.
About the Course
The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course is based on adult education theory spread over 17 weeks. The Black Belts are required to complete one project such as a Rapid Improvement Event (RIE), Process Development Kaizen, or Value Stream Analysis.
This program focuses its attention on the tools Black Belts will use most often in their events in order to deliver the highest possible ROI.

By meeting or exceeding these requirements, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training prepares applicants to also pass the ASQ certification.
The Learn Six Sigma Black Belt certification program requires the following:
Once the Black Belt candidate has completed all of the above and successfully presented their project to the Project Review Board, and all required documentation and paperwork for these events has been received at the home office, Drexel will immediately send the LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt Certification to the student and/or the executive sponsor.
Each trainee receives personal coaching and mentoring from J. R. McGee and Sandra K. Miller. They not only have extensive experience training personnel in these techniques, they are recognized as being among the very best in terms of actually implementing these tools to the benefit of multiple organizations and businesses world-wide.
