On behalf of Goodwin College and the School of Education, I would like to welcome you to the Human Resource Development (HRD) graduate program website. For those of you who are new to the profession, HRD is a rich, interdisciplinary field that focuses on improving workplace learning and performance through several domains of practice, including:
HRD can be applied in any organizational setting: corporations, government, institutions of higher education, and NGOs. The field of HRD is rapidly evolving. The Society for Human Resource Management, the American Society for Training and Development, and the International Society for Performance Improvement state that strategic human resource development is the emerging mandate for organizations serious about human capital.
Currently, we offer an M.S. in HRD and a graduate Certificate in HRD. We also offer HRD coursework as a concentration area for those pursuing Drexel’s Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Management. All of our graduate programs in HRD are uniquely positioned at the intersection of business and education.
Students in our programs gain access to Drexel’s distinctive blend of theory, practice, and problem-based learning. They are exposed to the best of today’s thought leadership and learn the tools and frameworks needed to design and implement learning, performance, and change initiatives in their organizations. From training and development to performance improvement to organizational change and transformation, we offer cutting-edge graduate training in HRD that addresses the most pressing problems and opportunities in organizations today.
I am proud to say that our graduate programs in HRD are offered at Drexel University’s main campus in Philadelphia, Pa., and the Drexel University Sacramento in Sacramento, Ca. Our bi-coastal presence, inclusive and innovative curriculum, and scholar-practitioner faculty have earned us a national reputation and recognition as a Program of Excellence in HRD through the Academy of Human Resource Development.
