The Emergency Management minor is designed for Drexel University students who would like to learn fundamental competencies expected of professionals in the field of emergency management. The curriculum is mapped to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA's) comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand will continue to grow for specialized workers in areas related to emergency preparedness. The job growth generated by increased needs creates an increased demand for emergency management education in this field.
Part-Time students working in public and private sectors may benefit from this minor, including all levels of government, law enforcement, fire personnel, military, facilities, and emergency medical personnel. In particular, evening or online students pursuing a degree in Professional Studies or General Studies will find the minor to be a fitting complement to their undergraduate studies. In addition, full-time day students pursuing a variety of majors such as Construction Management, Criminal Justice, and Political Science will find the minor particularly relevant.
