Dr. Rajashi Ghosh, assistant professor in the School of Education’s Master of Science in Human Resource Development (HRD) program is hosting a freehalf-day symposium on “HRD’s Role in Workplace Incivility & Violence,” on April 23, 2011 at Drexel University’s Creese Student Center, 32nd and Chestnut Streets. Despite strides to improve American corporate culture, the incivility problem is causing chaos within employee relationships, diminishing office morale, and induces financial costs. According to Dr. Ghosh, “the cost of workplace incivility to U.S. corporations in terms of lost productivity and health care costs is estimated to be $23.8 billion on an annual basis.”
In an attempt to create open dialog and educate HRD professionals about this issue, the symposium will involve students and faculty, both from Drexel and neighboring universities and will bring together renowned HRD scholars and practitioners to interact and network with the Drexel and regional HRD community helping them to develop collaborations for future academic studies. According to Dr. Ghosh, “Such collaborations generated from the symposium will further the vision of the new doctoral HRD concentration in the Ed.D program in Goodwin College’s School of Education by building a foundation for future academic discourse and research on this topic.”
