The Digital Learning Games Network is pleased to announce the second installment of its four-part "Digital Games: Teaching, Learning and Assessment" seminar series.

The January 25 seminar, entitled "Using TPACK for Game Assessment and Design," will be held at the Mitchell Auditorium from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dr. Punya Mishra, a professor of Educational Technology at Michigan State University, will discuss the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) educational technology framework, its multidimensional use, how it works as a framework, how it may be used in assessments for games and virtual worlds for learning, and the implications of TPACK for teacher education and the use of games.

The series will continue with seminars on March 22 and May 17, bringing together some of the best minds conducting research and investigating digital games and virtual technologies and their role in teaching, learning, and assessment. All students, faculty, and learning technology staff in Drexel University and surrounding universities may attend the seminar series free of cost.

About Dr. Punya Mishra

Dr. Punya Mishra is full professor of Educational Technology at Michigan State University where he directs the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program. He (with Dr. Matthew J. Koehler) is co-chair of the SITE2011 conference and former chair of the Innovation & Technology Committee of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE).

Dr. Mishra is nationally and internationally recognized for his work on the theoretical, cognitive and social aspects related to the design and use of computer based learning environments. He has worked extensively in the area of technology integration in teacher education which led to the development (in collaboration with Dr. M. J. Koehler) of TPACK framework, which has been described as being "the most significant advancement in the area of technology integration in the past 25 years." He has received more than $4 million in grants, published over 45 articles and book chapters, and edited two books. Dr. Mishra is an award-winning instructor who teaches courses at both the master's and doctoral levels in the areas of educational technology, design, and creativity.
