Philadelphia, PA (April 27, 2011)--This spring, Goodwin College's Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts and Food Science program celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a three–part panel discussion series on the current state of the hospitality and industries. The final panel, "The Future of Food Writing," is moderated by Michael Schulson, owner and executive chef of Philadelphia's Sampan and Atlantic City's Izakaya restaurants, on May 9.
Panelists are Michael Klein, “Table Talk” columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer; Arthur Etchell, founder of Philadelphia-based food news website Foobooz; Drew Lazor, associate editor at Philadelphia City Paper; and Emily Callaghan, managing editor of food blog Table Matters. The discussion begins at 6 p.m. at Mitchell Auditorium at Bossone Research Center. Panelists and guests are then invited to a reception at the Academic Bistro from 7-8 p.m.
"These panels are an informative experience for current, former and prospective students, and will bring together some of the top minds in the hospitality business today to discuss what has worked – and what hasn’t -- over the 25 years that we’ve been teaching students," says program director Dr. Radesh Palakurthi.
The culmination of the celebration is a Cirque du Soleil-themed brunch on May 7. The Academic Bistro will be morphed into a three-ring circus, and will feature live culinary demonstrations, a battle of faculty chefs, cocktails, and circus-themed entertainers. Guests are invited to enjoy a mouth-watering menu created by our award-winning alumni and culinary family.
