Drexel Sport Management Holds 2010 Graduate Summer Residency, July 2010

On July 26, students from the Drexel’s online M.S. in Sport Management program converged in Philadelphia for the 2010 Graduate Summer Residency. The annual four-day seminar is the culmination of an online course and designed to create networking and experiential opportunities for online students studying Sport Management. .

The week was highlighted by several guest speakers including:

• Tim Fitzpatrick: Director of Athletics, Texas A&M, Corpus Christi
• Mark Wilson: Director of Camps & Clinic, The Ohio State University
• Linda Bruno: Former Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner
• Kevin Touhey: Former college basketball head coach, athletic director and best-selling author and motivational speaker
• Dr. Karen Weaver: Director of Athletics at Penn State Abington
• Zach Conen: Vice President of Sales and Marketing, LRA Worldwide
• Chris Wyche: Executive Vice President, Kansas City Wizards

Students also spent an afternoon visiting PPL Park – the home of the Major League Soccer team Philadelphia Union – where they were treated to a behind the scenes look at the stadium followed by a question and answer session with the team’s manager of communications, Aimee Cicero, who has been with the team from the ground up.

Upon leaving Philadelphia, students took with them new friendships, new business connections and new experiences all of which enriched their sport management academic experience and enhanced their personal sport network.
