This spring, Goodwin College's Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts and Food Science program celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a three–part panel discussion series on the current state of the hospitality industry. The first panel, "The Evolution of Casino Gaming: 2011 and Beyond" is moderated by assistant teaching professor and former casino executive Jane Bokunewicz on April 18.
The discussion begins with pre-registration at at 5:30 p.m. at Bossone Auditorium. From 6-7 p.m., guest panelists will discuss the state of their industry and field questions from the audience. Panelists and guests are then invited to a reception at the Academic Bistro from 7-8 p.m.
The other two panels in the series are "Hotels: Weathering the Storm of Recession," on April 25, and "The Future of Food Writing" on May 9.
"These panels are an informative experience for current, former and prospective students, and will bring together some of the top minds in the hospitality business today to discuss what has worked – and what hasn’t -- over the 25 years that we’ve been teaching students," says program director Dr. Radesh Palakurthi.
The culmination of the celebration is a Cirque du Soleil themed brunch on May 7. The Academic Bistro will be morphed into a three-ring circus, and will feature live culinary demonstrations, a battle of faculty chefs, cocktails, and circus-themed entertainers. Guests are invited to enjoy a mouth-watering menu created by our award-winning alumni and culinary family.
