Goodwin College's Center for the Prevention of School-Aged Violence is seeking caring adults from Drexel University and its surrounding community who wish to participate in the piloting of the Center’s Preventorship™ mentoring program. The program will be piloted with roughly 30 students from one of Drexel’s neighborhood schools — the Morton McMichael Elementary School — and will focus on bullying prevention, character education, and social skills.
The Center seeks approximately 15 volunteers who will be trained and will receive a professional mentor training certificate through the Center for the Prevention of School-Aged Violence. The pilot program is supported by Goodwin College, the Sport Management program’s 10 Feet to Character program. The commitment for the pilot program is approximately 10 Saturdays, starting in January and ending in June. The program will run from 9 a.m. until noon at the Morton McMichael Elementary School. Aside from the mandatory trainings, all prospective mentors will have to receive FBI and Child Abuse Clearances.
