PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Aug. 10, 2011) — Drexel University’s Goodwin College Dean William Lynch has appointed Dr. Tina Q. Richardson as associate dean for academic affairs for the School of Education, effective August 1.
Dr. Richardson, the 2009-10 American Council on Education Fellow at George Washington University, comes to Drexel from Lehigh University, where she held several positions. Most recently, Richardson served as associate professor in the College of Education. She also served as special assistant to the provost for faculty leadership development associated with the NSF ADVANCE Grant for Institutional Transformation. Previously, she was training director of the counseling psychology program at Lehigh’s College of Education.
“Dr. Richardson is an excellent match for this position and will be a strong asset to both the School of Education and the University,” says Lynch.
As training director of Lehigh’s graduate program in counseling psychology, Dr. Richardson served as the chief representative for master’s degrees in counseling and human services, elementary and secondary school counseling, international counseling, and a doctoral degree in counseling psychology. Under her leadership, the counseling psychology program received the American Psychological Association’s 2007 Richard M. Suinn Award.
She has been a Fulbright-Hays Scholar in Ghana, West Africa, and a two-time recipient of the Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Through the grant, she led K-12 teachers and higher education faculty on educational tours for international curricula development. She also directed an international partnership between Lehigh and the University of Liberia that promoted behavioral health, reconciliation and recovery from war in Liberia.
Dr. Richardson serves on the board of Women’s Ventures International, an organization for women’s economic development in Ghana, and the Pennsylvania Regional Community Policing Institute in Allentown. She is a member of the editorial board for The Counseling Psychologist journal, and serves on the executive board for the Society of Counseling Psychology: Division 17 of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Richardson received a doctorate of philosophy and master of arts in counseling psychology from the University of Maryland. She is a graduate of the Bryn Mawr Summer Institute for Women in Leadership sponsored by Higher Education Resource Services (HERS).
