From July 15-24, Goodwin College Sport Management students will travel to the Ukraine as part of a strategic planning initiative. Dmytro Kachurovs'kyy, a Ukranian student in the online M.S. in Sport Management program and general director of Sport Club Meteor in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, has called upon his SMT peers to assist with the facilitation of the sports facility’s operational goals by developing a strategic plan for the facility.
As part of a study abroad program, the participating students are enrolled in a course taught by Amy Giddings, assistant teaching professor. During the course, students will learn about the strategic planning process and travel to Ukraine to formulate a comprehensive strategic plan. Upon return to Philadelphia, the students will assemble a formal strategic plan and present it to Sport Club Meteor.
Five students were selected for the study abroad program through a competitive application process. Graduate students Danielle Boyle, Elizabeth Ernst, and David Kao, and undergraduate students Anthony D'Angelo and Ryan Pratt will be accompanied by Jen Valore, SMT program administrator. Valore, who will serve as on-site director during the trip, and Giddings will oversee the students during all stages of the strategic planning process. Additionally, Cory Schmitt, director of Learning Technologies at Goodwin College, will join the group as professional videographer.
The team will be documenting their journey. To experience the trip through their eyes, visit the Ukraine Strategic Planning Trip blog and search for them on Twitter using hashtag #dusmtukraine.
