CSRL Presents Fall Workshop: Creating a Sustainable Future for Your Students, November 12-13, 2010

A sustainable society is one that is able to satisfy its needs without diminishing the needs of future generations.

The School of Education’s Collaborative for Sustainable and Regenerative Learning (CSRL) will present its first annual fall workshop entitled “Creating A Sustainable Future for Your Students” on November 12 and 13. During this workshop, participants will learn to create a learning community that engages participants in hands-on activities that combine systems thinking, sustainable economics, and the science of sustainability. This two-day workshop is designed to increase participants’ awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the core concepts and habits of mind that characterize sustainable living and working toward a sustainable future for our children.

Facilitators:

Jaimie P. Cloud is the founder and president of the Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education in New York City. The Cloud Institute is dedicated to the vital role of education in creating awareness, fostering commitment, and guiding actions toward a healthy, secure and sustainable future. Jaimie works with educators who want to concentrate on educating for sustainability by embedding the Education for Sustainability Standards and Performance Indicators into their curriculum and teaching practice.

Dr. John M. Gould is a former superintendent and now an associate clinical professor at Drexel. He is the director of the Harrisburg Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Development program and the founder of the Collaborative for Sustainable and Regenerative Learning in Drexel’s School of Education. The CSRL mission is to explore, develop, and promote a new set of assumptions and rationales for learning and what schools need to be in this century and beyond. John works with educators who want to learn how to utilize systems thinking in creating a shared vision for their schools and community to meet the needs of their children in the 21st century.
